The citizens of British Columbia are being forced to pay thousands of dollars in Property Transfer Taxes when they try to sell their homes! This tax is taking money out of the pockets of everyday home owners that are trying to better their lives by downsizing or purchasing larger homes.

As housing prices have skyrocketed, so too has the amount the government is taxing us on home sales. The tax was introduced in 1987 when the average price of a Vancouver home was about $150,000. Now that the price of housing has risen significantly, the tax has ballooned to aprox. $16,000.00 on the sale of a $700K home. Many citizens can no longer afford this huge revenue loss on their homes.

This tax is out of line with current market conditions. It has become a large revenue source for the B.C. government at the expense of the B.C. tax payers.
