Dear BBS Administration

Firstly, allow us to thank you for the noticeable efforts you and the teachers are taking while trying to navigate your way through these unprecedented times with the ever-changing regulations resulting from the COVID pandemic. We are writing today asking to reconsider the at-school learning hours prescribed for Elementary and Preschool students.

Three hours a day for these young children cannot possibly be enough to ensure they are achieving academic excellence or social development.

With that in mind we cannot help but compare what other private schools that are held at the same high caliber as BBS are offering their students. These schools are offering a minimum of 7 hours a day, every day, which is more in line to what schools were offering Pre-COVID.

We also know that some of those schools, if not all, have built or are building more classes to ensure compliance with MOE and MOH regulations, and that is why they are able to provide a full school day to their students.

Our question then is, why hasn’t BBS been able to offer the same hours as other schools despite having the same amount of time to formulate a suitable solution? How can BBS explain that 15 hours per week of schooling offer the same level of education as 35 hours per week for our little kids? What alternative solutions can BBS provide to address this matter?

Finally, the proposed schedules also provide a further hardship on working parents and parents who do not have the luxury of having help in picking up and dropping off their children. Not only is the 3 hour a day pick up / drop off is undeniably inconvenient for these parents but it becomes nearly impossible if these parents have children In middle school and high school!

It is undeniable that as parents we trust our children with BBS because of the academic structure and challenge it provides our children. We are concerned that the current program does not come near to achieving that to our children. We are therefore asking that BBS provides longer hours per week to ensure that by the end of the year our children are at the same level quality as other schools.
