The storm water drain connecting between Hebbal and Nagawara Lake is in a very bad shape, a look at this drain will show how much of sewage, garbage and toxic waste is been accumulated. Lot of waste/garbage is being dumped resulting in chocking of this drain. The neighboring sewage treatment plant is currently under-utilized. The stench emitting due to this is unbearable.
The drain is choked with garbage, plastic and growth of plants making the drain clogged. Mosquito menace and a large number of dengue cases are evident due to this drain. There are prominent schools in the nearby vicinity and one can imagine the likely health hazard caused due to this callousness.
The Nagawara Lake nearby, which has been a revenue making stream for the Lake Development Authorities for years, however the lake bed & the storm water drain connecting this lake is being completely ignored.
This calls for an urgent, effective and eco-friendly solution to the problem of Waste disposal.
The BBMP authorities needs to put a proper Waste Management plan in Place.
Segregation of sewage & storm water, concealed pipeline for sewage water should be put in place.
Comprehensive removal & cleaning of sludge / debris should be done for proper flow of water.
Increase the functional capacity of the neighboring sewage treatment plant
Cleaning of lake-bed & the storm water treatment should be regularly monitored by the concerned lake authorities.
We request your participation to take initiative in approaching the BBMP/Lake authorities to plan and take necessary steps to completely clean the area and restore the grandeur of the lake.
