Crimewatch is a national institution. The programme has helped solve large numbers of serious crimes since its launch in 1984, including hundreds of murder, rape, and paedophilia cases (https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/in-25-years-crimewatch-snares-57-398587.amp). However, there are now plans for the programme to be discontinued. It is understandable that broadcasters like the BBC face great pressure to maintain audiences but some programmes are more important than achieving the highest possible ratings.
This programme is the pinnacle of what public service broadcasting should be about, and must be allowed to continue in a prime-time slot. The benefit to police forces is substantial. The benefits at a human level are incalculable. Please allow its invaluable work to continue.
