What is BBC Persian Programme Doing?
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) with 13,000 employees and branches in 20 countries worldwide, including France, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon, United Kingdom, the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting offers both domestic and foreign radio and television services, broadcasting 12 domestic television channels, four international news television channels, six satellite television channels for international audiences, and 30 provincial television channel available countrywide, while benefiting from over 18 informally supported TV stations in Lebanon and Iraq.
The regime controls the internet, and as and when they want, they shot down the internet in the entire country.
Yet, the BBC Persian Department believes that they should provide a platform to the supporter of the Islamic Regime of Iran to express their views!
However, are you aware of the following facts:
• Iranian military officials shot down a Ukrainian jetliner while the government issued false statements, for three days denying any responsibility of killing 176 people,
• The government made pre-conditions to deliver the bodies of the victims to their loved ones as a way of silencing them. Furthermore, families of the victims have imposed funeral problems unless they made no complaints.
• 1,500 people were killed over a period of two weeks of unrest that started on Nov. 15. The figure, according to Reuters report was by three Iranian interior ministry officials,
• The staggering scale of arrests, imprisonments and flogging sentences reveal the extreme lengths the authorities have gone in order to suppress peaceful dissent
• Human rights defenders and lawyers continue to face arbitrary arrest
• Prominent human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh and her husband, Reza Khandan, were arrested and faced charges in connection with their support of women protesting against forced hijab (veiling).
• The list is endlessly long…
BBC Persian TV enjoys from a range of designated guests whose contribution to the TV programme tends to justify the mentioned crimes and many more.
We ask the BBC, on what basis of fairness do you offer a platform to the advocates of such a regime?
