Create a UK 'Melodifestivalen' (Eurovision national selection format)

The BBC have just announced that 'Electro Velvet' will be representing the United Kingdom in Vienna for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song 'Still in Love with You'. After taking very small steps forward in recent years, the BBC have now taken a giant leap back, exposing how out of touch they are with the contest. The behind-closed-doors selections of the last few years have failed to reflect the abundance of talented singers, songwriters and producers in the UK (and beyond!).
It's not just opinions which support this proposal, though. From an objective perspective, 76% of top half entries in the last three years have been produced by national selections, along with two out of three winners.
Things need to change. We've had enough, and are taking power into our own hands.
We challenge the BBC and Guy Freeman to either:
- Create a Melodifestivalen style national selection*.
- Hand Eurovision over to Channel 4 or another broadcaster who will!
*The makers of this petition have completed a proposal for a national selection format, and will be sending the 11-page outline to the BBC and other broadcasters in the near future.
