Delia Derbyshire to get on-screen credit for Doctor Who

Since its inception over fifty years ago, Delia Derbyshire's arrangement of Ron Grainer's theme tune for Doctor Who has made it one of the most iconic pieces of music for decades; instantly recognisable, and yet Ms Derbyshire does not receive a credit on the TV show.

Even Mr Grainer believed that his original composition was unrecognisable and improved upon by Delia's craftsmanship, to the point that she should receive a co-credit, but it fell on deaf ears at the Corporation.

Now, with the first ever female Doctor about to be seen on our screens, the time is ripe for Delia Derbyshire to receive the credit she wholeheartedly deserves.

Therefore, the next series' credits should read:

"Original Theme by Ron Grainer and Delia Derbyshire".
