The BBC has stated that presenter, Naga Munchetty, breached its impartiality rules by comments she made on its BBC Breakfast show. This followed comments made by President Trump that four female politicians should ‘go back’ to places from which they came from’ which Naga rightly stated were ‘embedded in racism.’

Racism is not a valid opinion and should not be subject to impartiality guidance. Naga’s comments on her personal experience highlighted the very real impact that words such as this have and why it is so important that they are challenged. We cannot live in a society where there is greater outrage for calling out racist views than for racism itself.

This petition therefore, calls on the BBC to immediately revoke its decision and apologise to Naga Munchetty for they way it has dealt with this issue.

Challenging racism should not be silenced.
