Chuter Ave Resident parking only

I am writing in regards to Chuter Avenue and in particular the area of the road that connects Ramsgate to Monterey. This area, consists of a number of units and houses as well as Ramsgate Public School, local cafes and shops and Scarborough Park which is home to a number of sporting games and training that occur throughout the week and weekends. I do understand that the area is relatively busy and does need to accommodate for a number of people attending the schools and sporting events but as a resident of one of the units in the street, I am finding that it is becoming increasingly hard to find parking which proves as an inconvenience to a number of people.
It is difficult when taking groceries from the car, it is difficult for elderly members of the community when they are unable to park or get dropped off close to their house, and it is difficult for those working late hours and finding themselves walking such a far distance from their car to their home, late at night with this being a safety concern especially for younger residents.
I believe a solution to this problem could be to rule timed parking in this part of the street with residents excluded. This will enable those doing school drop offs/sporting events to park for a couple of hours, but will free up the streets for the residents who need to the parking spots.
