Change Baylor MPH internship requirements due to COVID-19 Pandemic
Change Baylor MPH internship requirements due to COVID-19 Pandemic
Why this petition matters
We, the students of the online Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at Baylor University, are petitioning to get our practicum hours reduced from 250 hours to 150 hours, as well as an opportunity for an alternative assignment; such as a paper or online interactive weekend. If granted, students would choose between either options to fulfill the program requirements and graduate in December 2020 as intended. We, the students, believe that due to the current pandemic, the program’s internship requirement (complete 250 hours by the second week of October) is unrealistic and unfair. We, the students, hope to graduate as intended in December 2020. Therefore, due to financial constraints, we, the students, will more than likely not continue with the program should our graduation be postponed until the following year. In conclusion, we, the students, are asking for MPH@Baylor administrative staff to reduce our practicum hours, as well as provide alternative assignments, in order to attain the program’s requirements and remain on track for graduation in December 2020.
