Bring Bauer Turbo/Bravo/33/Panther etc rollerskates back, with a retro production run.
The Issue
In the 1980s and 90s there was a huge rollerskating scene in the UK. Thousands upon thousands of teenagers lived on their skates, going everywhere on them in the evenings, weekends and holidays. They were used heavily on the street and in arenas/roller discos - and the quality of skating in the UK was superb.
Unlike the BMX scene of the same time, which had lots of competing bike brands, there was essentially only one brand of skates - Bauer - in the classic 80s and 90s PU boot. Turbo 33s, various colourway Turbos, Bravos, Panther 35s, Team Canada, Coca-cola, Malibu, GTX etc etc etc. These skates were discontinued when Nike bought Bauer - presumably because sales had slowed due to market saturation.
These old skates are now highly coveted and collected, but have suffered from deterioration of the plastic. Ex skaters in their 30s and 40s are buying the remaining classic skates to relive their youth and finding they break underfoot. There is even a firm in Denmark called Supreme producing very similar skates to try and tap into the culture.
Bauer Hockey should reproduce these skates to supply the UK retro market, as the likes of Raleigh Bikes have done with their Tuff Burner line of BMX bikes. These repros should be identical to the old product and not updated. New, old skates.
Where there is only a small ice skates market in UK, Bauer could make significant sales, perhaps more than ice skates. These would be bought extensively by adults, for themselves and their own children who are now of that age, introducting a new generation to the brand, opening both retro and current line doors.
This petition is to give skaters the opportunity to support the proposal - and to signify an interest in potentially purchasing one or more pairs of classic Bauer Turbo skates.
