Why this petition matters

The Red Cross is a nationally protected and universally understood symbol.

To most, this symbol means "medic" in some way, shape, or form. But this symbol holds a lot more value than people may think.

In war time, this symbol is put onto people, vehicles, and buildings to mark them as a unit or thing that provides disaster relief. Medics wore the red cross to proclaim their neutrality, and that they should not be targeted and allowed to care for the sick and wounded without threat of death.

This was all made to keep warfare from becoming too barbaric. Soldiers had families and lives back home they wished to return to, and many people who did return home, aid men, wounded, and all the like, can thank the red cross for the reason they were not killed in action.

This game, Battle for Honor: Classic, incorrectly portrays the symbol by allowing any player to wear the Red Cross at will. Because of this, most people who decide to play medic wear the red cross, and then go guns-blazing like they are normal infantry. This removes any neutrality based meaning of the red cross, and should be fixed to more accurately depict the symbol.

PROPOSED IDEAS:

  1. Faction based - The Red Cross helmet, armband, and vest would be restricted to the 32nd Medical Brigade (US official faction). Alternatively, the Axis equivalent would be restricted to the Sanitäters battalion (German unofficial faction as of now)
  2.  Full neutrality - Medics on both sides who wear the red cross would be restricted from using guns and capturing points, but in return would be given god mode so that way they may carry out their medical activities without the threat of death.

"In fact, the red cross emblem is an important symbol of humanitarian protection. It is recognized as such in both Canadian and international law which prohibit its unauthorized use. Misuse of this valued symbol distorts its meaning and its protective value for victims of conflict and the aid workers that assist them"
