BATHROOMS ARE A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE

BATHROOMS ARE A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE
Why this petition matters
Abington High School has made a rule that NOBODY is allowed to leave the room during their bridge block/mentor groups. This includes to go to the bathroom. Bridge block/mentor groups are the same time as a full period.
This rule is absolutely ridiculous, and not fair whatsoever. I understand the concern of vaping in the bathroom, but taking away our bathroom RIGHTS is NOT the way to go.
I was on my period last week, and i thought it was over, but i thought wrong. And i realized that during mentor groups. I begged to go to the bathroom, which got declined. I begged to go to the nurse, which also got declined. I even told the teacher it was an emergency, still declined. So i just walked out of class and did what i had to do. I took ONE MINUTE, to go the bathroom, do my thing, then get back to class.
Later that day i was called down to the office, when i explained myself, my punishment was “excused” because it was an emergency. (EVERY BATHROOM VISIT SHOULD BE TREATED AS AN EMERGENCY.)
I DO NOT blame the teachers for this rule, i understand they are just doing their job, i’ve even heard teachers talk about how ridiculous the rule is. I blame who is responsible for setting this rule.
And this goes for EVERYONE, if a teacher denies you of the bathroom, whether during bridge block/mentor groups or not, JUST WALK OUT.
