The Panola County community, its Walkers, Joggers, Runners, Cyclists, Children, Parents, Grandparents, Great-grandparents, Employers, Teachers, Clergy and future citizens are united in their belief that not only should we have safe streets on which to commute but also avenues to enhance our health and well-being. This is why we are asking our elected officials of the City of Batesville and Panola County to begin work to allocate our tax dollars to making our city and county streets safe places to commute on foot and bicycle.
At a time when quality of life, health and safety are at the top of the list for characteristics that make for great, growing communities, it makes complete sense for our City and County to prioritize a plan to integrate this into our community’s blueprint. Signage reminding motorists to respect pedestrians and cyclists and thoroughfares and sidewalks to give safe passage for those desiring exercise or passage to a local businesses or neighbors are integral characteristics of a great place to live.
So these members of our community sign here asking that our City and County officials make this a priority as you move forward. Please feel free to use us wherever needed in order to make these much-needed improvements a reality.
With sincere thanks in advance for your time, attention and action,
The Citizens of Batesville and Panola County
