Referendum Request for Turf
In 2013, the Batavia School Board approved a $13.5 million plan to redevelop the athletic fields at Batavia High School. Included in the plan are 2 artificial turf fields. In 2014, a referendum to fund the fields and other capital projects with $15 million in bonds failed by a wide margin. Believing that artificial turf has the community's support if it can be done without bonding, the School Board has contracted for a design for the first artificial turf field at Bulldog Stadium. Those opposed to, or concerned about, the turf maintain that their numbers are larger than the Board would believe, perhaps even being the majority of citizens in Batavia. To accurately gauge support for artificial turf and to guide the decisions of the Board of Education in this matter, we request that the Batavia School Board put the question to referendum: Shall Batavia Community Unit School District Number 101 install artificial turf at Batavia High School?

We the undersigned request a referendum for artificial turf at Batavia High School.
