- It is obvious that crooks cannot run the most important institutions such as the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank. Basil Rajapaksa and the Central Bank Governor, Nivard Cabraal should be equally responsible for the present economic crisis. The Central Bank became a political agency and they had printed 23 times the value of money for the last two years (2020 to 2022) compared to the years 1949 to 2019. Any idiot can understand the impact on the general price levels but Nivard Cabraal kept on saying that money printing does not lead to inflation.
- Furthermore, Basil Rajapaksa and Nivard Cabraal gave misleading information about the country’s foreign currency balances and these two crooks did not correct steps to ease the pressure on the economy. I demand, that Basil Rajapaksa and Nivard Cabral should immediately resign from their respective positions. Nivard Cabraal is a disgrace to the accounting profession and his Chartered Institute Membership should be canceled with immediate effect. If you agree with me, sign off this petition.
