Johnnie Carlton Beck, Navy Veteran, of Simms, TX died suddenly on September 25, 2019 at the age of 59 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 98.

This motor vehicle accident was caused by a prison employee cutting Johnnie off because they were late to work and couldn't spare to wait one extra second to allow him to pass by. Unfortunately, this situation has not gotten the media coverage it deserves, and needs to be addressed.

This is just one of many wrecks, not to mention the potential wrecks, that have happened at the entrance to the Barry Telford Unit on Highway 98, just 2 miles south of Interstate 30 in New Boston, Texas. Many of the Prison's employees have disregarded the traffic laws of the State of Texas. I remember many times in high school almost getting hit by the prison's employees who were leaving or entering the prison.

I am petitioning for the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Bowie County Sheriff's department, and Texas State Representatives to investigate and enforce the traffic laws in this area, and for the Barry Telford Unit to reiterate to their employees the importance of traffic safety and the importance of waiting just a few more seconds when driving, because that could mean life or death for someone else.

Please think twice to save a life. You may be gambling with someone else's life to simply get to work on time.
