Madison Boggs & Caylen Casey started this petition to Barrow County Board of Education

On September 28th, a student at our school (Apalachee High School, Winder, Georgia) was beaten up in the cafeteria. He has been getting bullied for years, and no justice has been served. He did not fight back, he did not provoke, and he stayed silent throughout the whole situation. He was thrown on the ground, his hoodie was used to cover his eyes, and then he was repeatedly punched in the back of his head. In the same week, he was jumped in the school bathroom. According to staff, the situation has been "dealt with". In the video posted of the altercation, a teacher was shown looking at what was going on, and simply walking away. He is not the only student that has been tormented. The "punishment" that these bullies receive involve being sent to alternative school, suspension, detention, or simple referrals. Nothing is being done to STOP the bullying, but simply putting it on a hold. Bullying in our school has been an issue for years, and something needs to be done about it. We want to start by boosting awareness on how the Barrow County School System "handles" bullies. Our next step is to push for a change in the anti-bullying policies. We appreciate all of your support in making this change:)
