Why this petition matters

Started by Yannick Benjamin

Beaupierre Wines and Spirits is the brainchild of Heidi Turzyn and Yannick Benjamin, two native New Yorkers with a passion for sustainability, diversity, and creating inclusive spaces for marginalized communities. Heidi and Yannick possess a combined 40+ years of experience in the wine and hospitality industries, which will undeniably be reflected in their new off-premise venture.

Beaupierre will be a family-owned business led by born-and-raised Hell’s Kitchen natives of French origins. Unlike other NYC-based wine shops, Beaupierre will not only be a place of family-oriented values, but also a space of community where inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability reign king. Heidi and Yannick seek to create an inviting location where disabled and marginalized communities can come together to learn about and share their passion for wine in a safe and secure space.

Beaupierre will be a barrier-free wine store that fosters a story of family, love, care, and support. Social sustainability will be practiced, and the establishment will be utilized to offer enriched programs that enhance the quality of life for people living with disabilities, as well as members of the BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and other marginalized communities. Heidi and Yannick believe that making space at the table means that more people will come and sit, and this is ultimately the goal at Beaupierre: to be an ‘open-door’ establishment where everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or disabilities, is always welcome.

Additionally, Yannick and Heidi have noticed the need for a Midtown-based wine retail store that is both friendly and accessible to the elderly, those hard of hearing, the blind, mothers with strollers, and those in wheelchairs. At Beaupierre, all guidelines of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) will be adhered to and implemented. Heidi and Yannick believe that creating a safe and accessible environment for everyone, regardless of disability, will allow for more voices to be heard.

At Beaupierre, Heidi and Yannick seek to not only share their passion for wine and hospitality, but also their unwavering belief that marginalized communities and people living with disabilities should have access to the same products and education as everyone else, regardless of race, gender, or physical circumstances. Beaupierre will be more about simply selling wine and spirits – it will be about making a difference in people’s lives and creating a safe space for everyone in the neighborhood.
