For decades, Peter Murray has been a fixture at the Cotuit Town Dock, the Three Bays Area and Nantucket Sound. Unfortunately, we lost Peter unexpectedly in September. No one did more or was more concerned for the Cotuit Waterfront and specifically, the Cotuit Town Dock, than Peter Murray. In the mid 1970's, Peter started Murray Marine, a mooring service company that was based out of Cotuit Town Dock and serviced moorings in Cotuit Bay, North Bay, West Bay and Popponesset Bay. His knowledge and love of the area was unmatched. Peter was a licensed mooring inspector and Assistant Harbormaster for the Town of Barnstable. He could be found seven days a week at the Cotuit Town Dock offering advise/assistance to anyone in need. Prior to the onset of franchise towing companies, Peter was always the go to person to tow in stranded, out of gas or broken down boaters in his workboat "Sparrowhawk".

In honor of Peter's commitment to the Town of Cotuit, the Three Bay boating community and specifically the Cotuit Town Dock, we hereby request that the Barnstable Town Council decree that the Cotuit Town Dock be renamed the Peter C. Murray Town Dock.
