  • I started a new job and found out I was pregnant, from the moment I told my new employer things went downhill. I was asked if I was going to get rid of the baby, was I was only happy I'd got the job so they would have to pay me (I wouldn't have worked there long enough before Maternity leave to recieve Maternity Pay from them), I've literally been questioned about everything to the point I was so stressed I had to go onto maternity leave early as myself and family were worried about my mental and physical health.
  • I found out late on within my pregnancy that I was pregnant and my employer did not believe this, to the point they tried to trip me up with questions, getting different people to ask me the same questions but in a different way, they always got the same answer no matter who asked, I was physically told off for not knowing that I was that far on in my pregnancy and that they didn't believe me, they even tried to get me to sign paperwork to say they could contact my doctors for my medical records luckily I've worked in the role I'm employed for a long time and know what to look out for and my family are also high up within their own employment.
  • But this experience has led me to think what about people that don't necessarily have anyone or feel so pressured that they have no other alternative but to sign paperwork that they may not want to sign and be spoken to out of turn for either finding out their pregnant late on in their pregnancy or even with planned pregnancies. No-one should be made to feel bad or ashamed because they are pregnant by anyone especially by their employer when there are supposed to be safe guarding measures in place. I had none of this at my workplace and would not wish it on anyone else.
