Bard High School Early College has recently installed many anti-juul “posters” in the bathroom, alongside invasive teacher bathroom visits. These posters say that being caught using a vape in the bathroom could result in suspension or expulsion, when you can’t be expelled from a public school, and according to the Student Code of Conduct, the maximum penalty for vaping is a parent conference.

The school has not offered any resources to help students quit nicotine, nor offered any room for a town hall by the students, instead resulting to forcing a student they caught vaping to give a presentation in front of the school, shaming him for vaping.

I would like the school to acknowledge that this campaign relies on manipulating a student with the penalty of suspension and a permanent mark on his record, and stop their anti-vape campaign.
