Port Chicago Mutiny! 49 African American weren't honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.
Why this petition matters
My grandfather Sam Smith and 48 African American men from the Port Chicago Mutiny trail on September 14, 1944 has NOT been given honorable discharge from The United States Navy. My grandfather served under untrainable conditions to handle explosives and armory for World War II.
On July 17, 1944 while loading Naval ships. Several explosions erupted and hundreds of casualties and deaths. My grandfather and the other men were forced to clean up body parts and wreckage. After that my grandfather and 49 other men told you have to go back to resume orders. A few reported back and the rest stood their ground to not go back because of inhumane and untrained work conditions.
Please sign and make a loud noise for the 49 men of Port Chicago Mutiny trial.
