Education Reform in Oakland

Oakland education system is in ruins. It has one of the worst education systems in California. When we look into a deeper perspective we can realize that it is not the fault of the people. The School Board is in the debts to the State of California and has budget cuts every year worth of up to 14 million. This needs to be stopped. The state of California has one of the worst education systems in the country. The reason is California needs to get more involved in the Education process and donate money to counties in need.

The policy we would like to propose is for the state of California should donate an adequate amount of money for the district of Oakland. 60% of the funds of the Oakland district shall go to helping students with programs like STEM preparation and labs. There shall be more challenging courses like AP or Honor for advanced students and for those who are struggling, homework help to make sure they excel. In the extra curricular view, there should be more variety of clubs and sports offered so ALL students can find an extra-curricular that is fun for them. The rest of the money shall be used by the district for the expense of the district in a careful way.

We believe in the power of the state of California and Oakland district representatives the problem can be solved and Oakland schools ill show an increased performance in state tests and overall academics/extra-curricular's.
