Music Speaks !!! Region 15

Let’s Show the Region 15 Board of Ed we are OPPOSED to eliminating the Orchestra Teacher Position in their budget proposal. They claim “our orchestra students and program will not be effected in quality or quantity with this cut.” Many parents and students strongly disagree. They claim this orchestra teacher has spare time and other music teachers can handle the load. We fear the other music teachers will be overburdened and may not be experienced in proper teaching of orchestra. At the well attended meeting we urged the board - Before cutting this position how about 1) expanding the program and role of said teacher by opening orchestra to 4th grade , in addition to grades 5-8 as in other schools OR 2) ask citizens to a pay the miniscule increase in taxes it would take to retain the current orchestra program OR 3) ask parents to contribute to program as is done with sports. These are just a few of the numerous feasible suggestions brought up by many concerned citizens at Monday meeting ( and we feel it fell on deaf ears ) in defense of loosing this amazing teacher who has a proven track record of providing exceptional instruction, increasing student enrollment to this program and so much more than can’t all be mentioned here. Watch the 3/26/18 BOA meeting video on Region 15 website to hear more. If you are able to vote in Region 15 PLEASE sign this petition and help us save the Orchastra Teacher Position that is slated to be eliminated !
