PLEASE HELP US SAVE THIS 'ASSET OF COMMUNITY VALUE' FOR THE FUTURE GENERATIONS OF GARLINGE

The Old School Hall has stood in the heart of Garlinge Village for well over 100 years. It was, of course, originally the New School Hall but as the population increased throughout the 1900’s, the pupils needed to move to larger premises and new became old.
The Old School Hall stood firm, however, and took on a new role within the community. Purchased by St James’ Church in the 1950’s, the hall became a hub of the community providing a home for groups such as the WI, Girl Guides, Scouts, Play Group, Brass Band along with a variety of church groups and functions.
Last year the church decided to close the Old School Hall and board it up.
The residents of Garlinge have come together and formed POSH in order to Preserve the Old School Hall.
The only real way to preserve a building is to use it, and that is what we want to do, use it not lose it!
Use it for;
Youth Club, Play Group, Residents’ Association, Women’s Institute, Scouts, Brass Band, Coffee Mornings, PCSO Surgery, Lunches, Knit and Knatter, Quizzes, Fetes, Boot Fairs, Art Club, Exercise classes, Dance classes, Family Parties, Receptions, Baby Showers, Assorted Clubs, Meetings, training….to name but a few!
POSH have so far obtained ‘ASSET of COMMUNITY VALUE’ status for The OLD SCHOOL HALL from Thanet District Council and have the full support of Sir Roger Gale MP, our ward Councillors (TDC & KCC), Garlinge Scout Leaders and other groups.
Please show your support to re-open the OLD SCHOOL HALL for the community of Garlinge social wellbeing.
