Let's celebrate Walter's 100th Birthday by honoring him in a meaningful way.
Every task Walter Munk tackles as a scientist is done methodically and with great purpose.
It's done the Walter Munk Way!
We are Petitioning for an honorary naming of La Jolla Shores Boardwalk "Walter Munk Way"
Walter Munk Way..what a fitting name to give our beautiful oceanfront walkway by the ocean that Walter has walked for 78 years..a place he loves so much and loves him back.
Walter has been at Scripps Institute Of Oceanography since 1939.
As the New York Times reported, he is known as the Einstein of the Oceans.
Here is a Video from his 2013 Roger Revelle Award: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiFLoJ55xmA
Because of his research, we can predict waves!
Because of his exploration, we know we have a wonder of nature right here in The Shores..the underwater Grand Canyon!
Walter tirelessly continues his research on sea rise and what the implications of this will mean to our world populations.
As CBS Reported he is one of the world's greatest living legends!
He is a treasure to us locally and to the world.
Let's honor him in this way.
