The Covid-19 pandemic prevents victims of domestic violence from seeking help. The more reason spouses and children are vulnerable to abuse in this circumstance we are facing now, is because of isolation from other people; neighbors, authority, loved ones, and activists. Considering that this pandemic should be observed to maintain health protocols so that citizens would remain uninfected as well as the economy to continue striving. In our country, the Philippines, there is still an unchangeably prohibition on our rights to divorce. There is an argument against divorce that it will destroy the institution of marriage but if societal issues such
as domestic violence keep occurring because of these traditional beliefs, the legalization should be approved by our government. Divorce is exemplary of how we can fix these disorders within the society that up to this day, lacks its solutions without depending on preventions. Human rights for children and spouses who are abused should be promoted, simply for the idea that violence being condoned harms the belongingness of those victimized in the family and would possibly result to trauma. Safe sanctuaries are difficult to get a hold of which is why creating
these places for victims while in a pandemic is an utmost importance. Barangays should have a monthly check-up on households. Barangays now should have a dedicated date to check-up in our situation to households and have warranties in searching the complete and full members as to question their states of mental health. The requirement for the people involved to stay inclusive should be prioritized and they should produce an atmosphere that victims can be evaluated instantly.

We all can make a change for our victims! So if this petition gets a lot of attention to those who have more privilege than others, we can save these people who are affected from Domestic Violence. If this petition may not reach the necessary people that could help, victims might remain unsafe in their households. Those who are abused are humans too, and we all don't want to be inflicted by it especially by people who we loved before.
