On September 5th 2001 Nathan L Smith 23 years old at the time, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute 50grams or more of cocaine base count 1, (through the testimony of 3 co-conspirators seeking lesser sentences for themselves) and distribution of cocaine base count 2. As a result Nathan was sentenced to 360months imprisonment. During this past 16 years Nathan has made extreme changes in character as well as his education. First and foremost Nathan has participated in a course for powered industrial truck operating permit, safety and operation of power tools, a course in industrial safety and health, a course in using hand tools, a course in drug abuse and education program, and Nathans most prized certificate is he has obtained his General Educational Diploma. This is a great achievement due to the fact that Nathan had been trying to obtain this certificate before his incarceration. In addition to him obtaining his GED Nathan also received a student of the year award for his outstanding performance displayed amongst all the other students. Equipped with these many achievements Nathan is displaying post sentencing rehabilitation. Not only has he armed himself with vocational experience but he has also obtained educational progress and personal treatment. He is the father of two sons who he has continued to support and encourage throughout his incarceration. His oldest son graduated 2016 and his youngest son will graduate 2017. With all the information you now have received I humbly pray you will take this petition into consideration for the advancement of the release of my son. Nathan L. Smith #06444-088 is currently incarcerated at the FCI-Beckley located in Beaver WV 25813.
