Homelessness in America is at an all time high, there are an estimated 553,742 people in the United States experiencing homelessness on a given night. In 2017, the vast majority of the homeless population lives in some form of shelter or in a transitional housing setting. More than 35 percent of homeless people lived in places that are not meant for human habitation. Abandon buildings, parks, trains, bus stops, vacant houses, and the list goes on. There are so many unoccupied buildings, offices, houses and land that can be converted to shelters for the homeless community. Things happen in life such as disasters, mental illnesses, and even hard times. That does not mean that we should leave our fellow brother/sister without a home, food, money, clothing, shelter and all of the necessities that are required to live everyday life.  Tax payers have no say so on what their tax money is being spent on. I think that we should and even if it don't happen I strongly hope that you'll consider spending some of the taxpayers money on cleaning up the homeless community by providing them shelter so that they don't have to continue to live on the streets. Homeless people are human and they deserve the help that they need, with so many abandoned buildings in the world today we can all change homelessness. There's no reason why those abandoned buildings cant be turned into housing for the homeless. Never judge a person because of their situation because one day that can be you out there hungry, looking for shelter, and even living on the streets because of an unfortunate situation.
