Stop Pendleton, NY Pipeline and Compressor Station

This petition had 1,053 supporters

As a concerned citizen, I am not in favor of the National Fuel Northern Access Project 2016/Empire Pipeline in Pendleton, New York. The section of this project through Niagara County is specifically designed to deliver fracked gas from Pennsylvania to Canada with no benefit to ANYONE here in the region or to anyone in the United States. This project will increase the pipeline from 16” to a 24” high-pressured gas pipeline and build a 22,214 horsepower gas compressor station in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Pendleton, New York.

My concerns are that the pipeline will run parallel and directly next to the Frontier Chemical Superfund Hazardous Waste site. Buried below the clay cap in the Frontier Chemical Superfund site are 72 hazardous chemicals, including radio-active waste. This pipeline expansion will be less than one-mile from the Starpoint Central School District, which has nearly 3,000 children and teachers on our central campus daily. The compressor station will be 850 feet away from the closest home, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Additionally, we are serviced by a volunteer fire company that is not equipped to handle any industrial emergencies or a major gas emergency.

We, the undersigned, do not support this or any project that has such a negative impact on Pendleton, New York.
