Install a Dedicated Safe Drop-Off Zone for Parents and Students of St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, Greenacre

Children are often dropped off for their arrival to school in the mornings. The peak time for drop-off is between 8.20 and 9.00am. The main gate used for drop off is on Tempe Street. Tempe Street access requires the children to enter the gates and walk immediately past the schools office once in the school grounds.
Currently there is a No Stopping Zone before the zebra crossing, and beyond the crossing including the main gate driveway entry. Beyond this area are about 4 car spaces that would be ideal for this purpose. However, this is a legal parking space, and sometimes parked parents use these spaces, causing many parents to use the unsafe no stopping areas for drop-off purposes.
These parking spaces are located outside the parish church. If the drop-off zone concluded at 9am, there would be no interruptions for parishioner parking when a 9.30am weekday mass is scheduled. And parking is also available on Rawson Road alongside the Parish for earlier weekday masses.
This petition is intended to alert the council of the many parents and community members, which desire a safe designated drop-off zone for our children. If this action is implemented, our school should no longer see parents dropping off their children in unsafe no stopping zones. Despite constant communication from our school to avoid this behaviour, unfortunately, it continues. If a safe zone was made available, this behaviour should stop, and our children’s safety is improved.
