Save Stewarton's Last Bank

It was recently announced that the Bank of Scotland will be closing the only remaining bank within Stewarton on 17th July 2017.
Since the closure of the RBS and Clydesdale banks, the Bank of Scotland has been an essential service for the local community, including residents, businesses, community groups and more. Stewarton has become the second largest town in East Ayrshire due to expansion in recent years and we require an infrastructure which will meet the increasing demand in the future. Stewarton is also a hub town for outlying villages and the rural community so it is clear that it is not just residents of the town who will be affected.
It is disappointing that no engagement or consultation was carried out with the local community or organisations which represent the local community. If any consultation had taken place then the Lloyds Banking Group would have soon learned that there is sustainable future demand for a local bank within the town which is not reflected within their branch review demand analysis.
The Stewarton Community Trust, in line with the aims and objectives of the Community Action Plan, would urge all residents to support this petition in order to save the last remaining bank in our town.
