These companies have allegedly pulled their advertising from the TLC show "All-American Muslims" at the behest of the Florida Family Association (FFA). According to a letter from the FFA, the organization had the following to say about the television show, "All-American Muslim’ is propaganda clearly designed to counter legitimate and present-day concerns about many Muslims who are advancing Islamic fundamentalism and Sharia law." and "The show profiles only Muslims that appear to be ordinary folks while excluding many Islamic believers whose agenda poses a clear and present danger to the liberties and traditional values that the majority of Americans cherish" Well, I have to say that FFA is right; to a point. The show does only profile one segment of the Islamic community, which happens to be the point. They are trying to illustrate the fact that most of Muslim-Americans are just that, American. They are not trying to force Sharia law on to America. But even if they were, how is it any worse than using Cannon Law, or biblical law as justification for the persecution and discrimination against the entire Homosexual community? By caving in to the pressure of the FFA, these companies give organizations such as these the strength required to push their agenda. An agenda that is wrought with fear-mongering and intolerance. Just recently congress passed a bill allowing for the U.S. Government to detain U.S. Citizens indefinitely, without trial so long as they are deemed to be a possible terrorist. It does not take much to see what inspired such a law; fear. Fear is what caused that, and fear is what is being sold by the FFA. The price of this fear you ask? It's only the integrity of American and the violation of some of this nations strongest ideals. Now I realize that we cannot stop the FFA from having their opinions, to do so would be jut as anti-American as their views and the additions to the Defense Appropriations Bill. However, we do not have to support the companies that choose to support the FFA and their beliefs. Let us use the rights we have as Americans to protect the rights we have as Americans as well as protect our fellow Americans from this ignorance. Sign this petition to let these companies, as well as corporations everywhere, know that we will not tolerate this sort of bigotry, not in America.
