The Bellandur lake in the capital of karnataka has now gone from foam to fire releasing toxic smoke. This is the third time the lake caught fire. This is happening due to the illegal dumping of debris. This is known to be the city's largest lake and is now spilling over because of froth filled with harmful chemicals. The toxic froth is caused by allowing untreated sewage water to flow into the lakes. It spills over onto the roads and into the drains .The fire is due to the phosphorus and oils on the surface. The residents have tried to seek help from government due to health issues they have been facing apart from pungent smell around but clearly adequate measure have not been taken. These issues also lead to poor visibility on roads and motorists risk skidding while riding. Bruhat bengaluru Mahabharata palike (BBMP) or the municipal corporation in the city is responsible in the region where the bellandur lake falls in. Bangalore development authority feels there is no point restoring a lake if sewage water is not stopped to enter the lake . Meanwhile, Bengaluru water supply and sewage board(BWSSB) is in charge of the diversion of sewage water which clearly it has not been able to do so. This is been happening from a long time. For more than a decade. The people can take the step to take control of cleaning the lake. But the BWSSB should make a better plan for sewage treatment rather than dumping into the lakes. This is a kind request to the BWSSB TO DIVERT THE SWEAGE , THE LAKE WILL BE CLEANED BY THE CONCERNED PEOPLE also to the people to avoid dumping household waste near the lake.
