Dear Parents of BISD students and other parties of interest,

Please take a moment to sign this petition to let the BISD superintendent and members of the school board know that we do not support the recent mandate concerning the choice between online learning and in-person classes. Let the representatives of Bandera Independent School district know that we will seek legal recourse if the mandate announced on 10/06/20 affects the distance learning of our students. Tell the school that this mandate is a gross violation of our families civil rights. Let them know that we believe that the district does not have the right to yank a student from their parentally chosen path of distance learning. Tell them that we believe that if such actions were justified the district would provide the proof to support the claims made in this mandate. Lastly remind the district that it has a six week to six week rule that does not allow a student to be eligible to change their learning plan before the end of any six weeks and therefore we also believe that this action violates their own policies.

Texas is seeing fluctuating rates of Covid 19 infections and until the CDC provides a directive to support BISD in this mandate we should leave such decisions up to the parents and students as neither the superintendent nor anyone on the school board are medically qualified to make such decisions for us.

Hopefully BISD will be updating their current policy to reflect a more understanding and and nationally recognized practice as we do not wish to drag this into a legal confrontation but will have no other recourse if the policies are not adjusted.

Hoping you are well and thank you for your support,
A Concerned Parent
