Ban "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" movie from being exhibited in the Philippines
Why this petition matters
In 1926, British writer "A.A. Milne" originated the Winnie the Pooh books, ranging from black-and-white to colored books, this was supposed to aim to children of all ages, mainly to pre-school aged children, Winnie the Pooh media were given to share life lessons to children around the world when they grow up. In 1966, Disney gained the rights to that series, thus, making the series even more delightful than the original, especially it was known for the movies produced based on the series, including "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", "Springtime Roo", "The Tigger Movie", etc., this also includes television media such as "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh", "The Book of Pooh" and "My Friends Tigger & Pooh" (which the latter is 100% aimed to preschoolers). In the start of 2022, after almost 95 years since the first book, Winnie the Pooh itself has entered into the public domain, which specifically means that anyone, or any company can make media with that series freely, even without permission from the original owner, but however, he/she should not get any instances from the Disney's version of the series, without their permission. In response of the original book going public domain, Rhys Frake-Waterfield directed the horror film called "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey", in one of his intentions of making that film, he said that he is going to ruin everyone's childhoods. You might think that you're gonna show this new film of Winnie the Pooh for your kids, right? Well, you're 100% wrong. This movie is unsuitable for children and this has extreme violence, murders of innocent victims, terrorism, dangerous actions that young people should never repeat, etc. This movie is making a big disgrace about what Winnie the Pooh should be, as this movie is promoting hatred about the original.
What's worse about it is, the releasing plans to screen the film to the Philippines, after the origin country's release. Most Filipino children who grew up consuming Winnie the Pooh related products might be scared off with that horror film and they might cry, scream, or in cases, throw tantrums. the addicted or troubled people who has negative thoughts about the series may spread hate in a bad way, endangering people who grew up with Winnie the Pooh. We, Filipinos, are supposed to help the kids, young and old, stick to what is right, in many ways. Spread the love, not hate.
We urge the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the legal agencies, to ban "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" from being exhibited in the Philippines, and imprison the individuals who were caught exhibiting this to-be-forbidden movie.
