If the use of disposable plastic bags is banned, it will prevent them from ending up in the ocean and negatively affecting marine life such as turtles, fish, mammals, and birds. Therefore creating better ecosystems and leaving a cleaner, less polluted planet for future generations. Since many species of marine life accidentally mistake disposable plastic bags for food (especially sea turtles when they are hunting for jellyfish), 100,000 marine animals die every year because of disposable plastic bags (according to animalsaustralia.org). It is estimated by National Geographic that on planet earth 1 million disposable plastic bags are used per minute. If everyone in the United States tied there annual consumption of plastic bags together it would wrap around the earth's equator 776 times says National Geographic. Please, sign my petition and put an end to all of this.
