I believe this is important to create a more equal community environment, where no religion has special privileges. It will also help with our national security. We all have to take off motorbike helmets and other items covering our faces in banks, court houses and several other places, yet muslims that wear the burqa are allowed to walk any where without having to show their identity. This is not a show of equality.
Another matter with the burqa, is that it puts all women who wear it at serious health risks. Studies have shown that wearing the burqa causes a Vitamin D deficiency and since Vitamin D is a vital nutrient, its deficiency can lead to various kinds of diseases.
Low levels of Vitamin D have been linked to a whole host of devastating disorders including cardiovascular disease, Type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. There is also a strong association between deficiency in Vitamin D and an increased risk of developing several deadly cancers, including breast cancer.
