As students of Taft High school it has come to our attention of the dangers that non biodegradable plastic bags are causing to us, and our environment. Our solution is to pass legislation in the state of Illinois to ban plastic bags and protect our environment. This is a problem we care about because the United States uses about 100 billion plastic bags a year which affects our crops and soil which then affects our whole ecosystem and food chain. Animals mistake plastic bags as food and cause them to choke. Plastic bags have chemical additives that cause health defects to humans like cancers, immune system problems, and birth defects.  We do not want this to affect our community and families that is why we need your help.
