Most times, plastic bags never fully decompose, it just breaks down into micro-plastics. Data suggest that 90% of the floating debris in oceans is plastics. Because of the beaches that exist in Florida, many tourists see the state as a vacation hot spot. If we want to preserve our shores, we need to reduce our ecological footprint. Changing the laws to enable a ban on single-use plastic bags will help reduce the environmental impact of micro-plastic pollution. The government has to take the lead if they are interested in preserving the environment now and for the future generation.
