We are uniting with the intend of addressing the ever-increasing pandemic of rickshaws on our city streets, ignoring all the rules of the road, stealing our rightful customers, and depleting our income. This is a growing travesty occurring on a nightly basis since 2012, despite the efforts of many individual drivers, who have tried in vain, to have this matter addressed in an official capacity, by contacting various Ministers, TD's. Councillors, Dept. of Transport, National Transport Authority, Dublin City Council and An Garda Siochana. When contacted, all these officials expressed concern about the public safety issues surrounding these rickshaws, but none are willing to take responsibility and follow Galway City Council's 2013 bylaw for an outright ban of these vehicles. It is an outright ban that we are demanding. There have been many documented incidents involving rickshaw passengers and pedestrians.
This must end before someone is killed!
