Ban pressure horns for all vehicles in Bangalore

Ban pressure horns for all vehicles in Bangalore
The Issue
Living in Bangalore, Karnataka, a city known for its bustling streets and constant traffic, I have personally experienced the overwhelming and incessant noise of pressure horns. These horns produce noise levels that can reach up to 120 decibels—equivalent to a rock concert. Not only are they irritating, but they also contribute to noise pollution, which is a growing problem in urban areas.
Pressure horns are not just an annoyance; they have health implications. According to the World Health Organization, long-term exposure to noise levels over 85 decibels can lead to hearing loss, stress, sleep disturbances, and other health issues. In a city already burdened with the hustle and bustle of daily life, adding unnecessary noise exacerbates these issues and diminishes the quality of life for all residents.
The impact of noise pollution extends beyond just health concerns. It affects wildlife by disrupting their natural behaviors, creates unnecessary stress for students trying to concentrate, and hinders the peaceful enjoyment of our homes.
Currently, the Motor Vehicles Act in India has regulations against using pressure horns, but enforcement is lackluster. This petition aims to urge the local authorities in Bangalore to enforce existing regulations more effectively and impose stricter penalties on violators. We also call for increasing public awareness about the harmful effects of pressure horns and encouraging the use of standard vehicle horns.
By signing this petition, you are supporting a healthier and calmer Bangalore. Together, we can push for stricter enforcement and enforcement that protects not just our ears but our overall well-being. Let's work towards making our city a quieter and more pleasant place to live. Please sign this petition to help ban the use of pressure horns in Bangalore.
