Ban plastics: A threat to humanity

Plastics are a major threat to the world's oceans
According to an estimate, 8 million tons of plastic wastes end up every year in the world's oceans, out of which 86% comes from Asia through a network of rivers.
Today 95 per cent of the plastic is large stuff and only five per cent is small dangerous microplastics. What is going to happen over several decades is that microplastic matter may increase twentyfold, which would be quite a big issue for us.
Not only a threat to sea life, the degradation of ocean plastics leads to the release of chemicals that are known to be harmful to humans when they enter the food chain.
We Indians wait for some superhero to come and bring a change, we don't realize the need of the hour regarding any situation until it turns into a visible deathbed, New Delhi's Pollution would be a great example for that.
From now on, we take a pledge on our personal level to strictly say no to plastics.
