This past year senate bill 103 or "An act to reduce unnecessary constraints for applied behavior analysis" was passed unanimously in North Carolina. Before that, NC was the only state where BCBAs were required to practice under licensed psychologists. Now that BCBAs can practice independently, this leads to easier access and even more therapists. This is a step backwards for the autistic community and our state government should know that. ABA has historically been abusive to the autistic community and we cannot let this continue. ABA should be banned everywhere, but let's start with our state.
