Long-time Baltimore radio talent Fran Lane was let go by Today's 101.9 right before the holidays. Fran was a friend to the lonely, the heart broken, the lovers, the couples who dedicated songs to each other. For over 25 years you knew each night if you turned on your radio her friendly voice would be there to celebrate, to console, and to bring a smile to her audience. 25 years ago she openly acknowledged and legitimized GLBT relationships when it was not something done openly by many. She played our dedications to our partners, to our exes, and to our hopes to find that special person. She never questioned our relationships. She never hesitated to support us. She was a voice for all of Baltimore. She is important to so many of us here in Baltimore. She played our love songs.
