Suzanne Meyer-Seymour started this petition to Baltimore City Board of School Commisioners

We, the undersigned, demand that the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners keep open Creative City Public Charter School.

Creative City is helping students succeed regardless of their race, their sex or their zip code. The Board is using outdated test scores to justify permanently closing a vibrant learning community. But the latest data show that Creative City graduates go on to thrive in middle school – and do better on state tests than their peers from other schools.

As family members, community members, graduates, and Creative City staff, teachers and administrators we know that:

·      Creative City is devoted to academic and operational equity.

·      Dedicated teachers help students integrate music, visual arts and dance into the curriculum and the life of the school

·      Students are learning through getting to know their community and nature.

·      Creative City supports students, families and the community, and students and families love their school.

Closing schools during a pandemic is wrong. When they vote on February XX, the Board must renew Creative City’s charter and preserve this essential Park Heights institution
