We Love Balham

Hi Balham residents,
We need your help! We are Megan’s, who are taking over the Starbucks unit on Bedford Hill. We are trying our hardest to give Balham the best neighbourhood space with al fresco dining but our opening is delayed due to planning objections! Please read on so we can make sure you are clear on what we are doing here… (P.S. please support us! Details at the bottom…)
We are a small privately-owned business. The owner is a neighbour of Megan’s on the Kings Road and was a guest before buying the restaurant! He grew up in Streatham and so knows Balham very well, hence why he (and we) are so excited about this new location.
Megan’s is a fantastic neighbourhood spot and is the hub of the community at our current sites. Our guests come in for pastries and coffees in the morning, cake in the afternoon, takeaway salads at lunch, brunch on the weekend and evening meals in the most romantic restaurants in London (yup, we’ve been voted that). Our Executive Chef, Sercan, has been with the business for four years and is Turkish, hence the Mediterranean feel.
We welcome dogs, humans, prams, friends and family. We have hosted birthday meals for all ages, we have hosted tons of weddings and have even had a proposal in our gorgeous Kings Road garden! We’re also a regular feature on Made in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating if you like that sort of thing…
We’re very female friendly (probably to do with the fairy lights and flower ceiling), only have one type of bottled beer and have very small bar areas. Even though we have a license until 2am, as a brunch-focused casual place, our sites close before midnight. Check out our Instagram @megansrestaurants to see what we’re about.
We are investing £0.5 million into the new restaurant, and central to that is a retractable roof that acts as a city garden in the summer. We have a similar thing at Megan’s Kings Road, where we’re surrounded by residents on all sides and have had no issues with noise in twelve years of operation… The garden has been described by Time Out as “a magical setting” and by Luxuria Lifestyle as having the “Instagram-wow-factor”, with our guests likening it to the Mediterranean. Pictured above is how the Balham "garden" looks so far...
If you have received the five-page objection letter that is being circulated, you may be interested in heading to our Vimeo account, ‘Megan’s on the Hill’ to check out videos of the garden roof at Kings Road and the minimal noise it makes.
If you would like to support us in creating the best neighbourhood spot in Balham, then please sign our petition here on change.org and email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your name, address and why you support us in creating this year-round al fresco place. We will be collating these responses and sending them to planners. Thank you a million times over!
The soon-to-be Megan’s on the Hill team xx
