Keep our kids safe, vote again!

Keep our kids safe, vote again!

Dear Superintendent Eric Russell and all school board members-
It's clear now that the 3-3 vote went nowhere and we need your help. Please meet again and vote with an odd number. Based on the research, part of the problem with the high number of Covid cases is due to the fact that you're not requiring a mask on the buses. It's a federal mandate that can lead to civil complaints and penalties. Not to mention the risk you might run with your insurance provider. If a wrongful death lawsuit comes your way.
We the parents of the BWSD demand for a better "Return to School" plan to keep our kids safe. Two kids in Wisconsin have already died from Covid. Wisconsin is better than that, we're better people who can do better. Do you think it's fair that we should still have the freedoms of choice to require masks, when children are dying over something that could have been prevented?
An easy vote to mitigate this issue and build better trust with the parents, students and staff is to adopt the following:
- Update the "Return to School" plan to included this line: "The District will follow the CDC order and require the wearing of masks for students and staff on buses."
- Adopt a Mask matrix plan similar to the Hudson School District. Requiring masks based on current Covid case counts for all three schools. It would be easy to adopt and manage for just three schools.
- Install improved by-laws for the school district on how to handle responses better when dealing with severe diseases and illness. So, future debates on this topic can be mitigated faster and keep students and staff safe.
You sent the parents and staff surveys that unanimously confirmed that masks work, so stop ignoring the parents and fix it now! Please vote ASAP, before another student or staff is severely ill or injured. Public safety is not up for debate, we need to keep all students and staff safe.
We hope to hear from you soon, thanks!
