Petition to
Baldwin Wallace University

Why this petition matters

The rec workout room at Baldwin Wallace Univerisity is an extremely toxic and judgemental environment that sexualizes it’s students for wearing workout clothes! The dress code rules promote the idea of women students being “distracting” to other people. Those who wear any form of tight workout clothes or crop tops  are told they are being distracting  sometimes kick them out. This is unacceptable especially by a university who promotes and advertises inclusion. There is no dress code at Baldwin Wallace for class. Why is it fair to discriminate against these students when they are trying to work out to better their physical health. Why is it a crime to wear a cropped top? Many people who enjoy fitness will agree tight clothes are preferred because they don’t get in the way. Baldwin Wallace should allow students to express themselves and wear what they want to the gym! It is sad that students have to look for other gyms to workout at because of the weird toxic rules in place. We as a community need to stand up for the women (men, and non-binary) people of our community and promote this change. Allow students to workout free of the fear of being yelled at for their clothes. Free of being told you need to cover up. Free of this stigma that just because you’re wearing a crop top to workout in you are trying to “show off” or you are being “distracting.” Stop sexualizing these students. LET THEM DRESS HOW THEY WANT!
